| | Learning Outside the Classroom |
| | Having fun and learning as a Bedian not only inside the school, but also outside it. Is this possible? Of course it is. We often think that traditional teaching is the only way to learn, but beyond the classroom there are also a thousand ways to do it, even better. |

|
| | | | | | On Thursday we had a wonderful celebration to mark the Ten year anniversary with Manchester City Academy. An opportunity to reflect on the success of many Bedians. We look forward to welcoming our Upper Sixth to their Sixth Form Ball and hope that it will be a fantastic occasion for everyone. | | | | |

| | We all like to follow people on social media. We like to see what they have been getting up to. Sheep in Jesus’ time were free to roam but when they were in danger the shepherd would call them back. We have to learn the sound of God’s voice so that we can hear when he calls us. Jesus is the shepherd who will lead us through our life and will keep us safe no matter what we have to face. With a shepherd like Jesus we do not need to be afraid. |
|
|
| | | Lord Jesus, lead me into your peace; I place all my trust in you. Teach me to hear your voice amidst the noise of this world.
Teach me to trust your word, knowing that I am safe with you. Teach me to listen in the depths of my heart to your words of love.
Amen. |

| Parents' Guide to Live Streaming |
| | If your child plays online games, there is a good chance that they are a regular user of discord. However, while being initially being a platform for gamers to talk, it is now a place for anyone to explore their interests in subject-specific groups. Below is a guide for the potential risks to young people for parents. - Mr Sanders | |

| Lower Sixth Student and Keen Economist | |
| | Lower Sixth student and keen economist, Roselle, recently attended ‘Realising Regional Growth: What next for Greater Manchester?’ at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester – the first in a new series of regional events exploring what the Levelling Up programme means in reality for local economic growth around the country. She enjoyed networking with representatives from HMRC and various consultancy firms and observed a panel discussion by speakers including Andy Burnham and Gordon Brown. Roselle learned about policies that will be implemented in the coming years to promote increased devolution and less regional disparity across the country. As she plans to complete an EPQ on economics, her experience will be both memorable and valuable. - Mrs A McMonagle. | |

| | | Two weeks, two very different theatre trips. Last week the Upper Fourth, Lower Fifth and Lower Sixth drama and theatre students watched the magical musical ‘Beauty and The Beast’ at Manchester's Palace Theatre. This week we broadened our cultural exploration of Manchester theatre by watching an adaptation of Emily Bronte's classic ‘Wuthering Heights’.
It is safe to say imaginations were sparked and hearts filled watching these wondrous productions right here in our city. The autumn term will begin as we mean to carry on with ‘The Glass Menagerie’ at The Royal Exchange Theatre. - Mr J Dickson. |

| Last Friday Siena House celebrated the feast day of Saint Catherine of Siena in the Chapel. Pupils from across the year groups came together to worship, to reflect and to end the week on a positive note by celebrating the life of the wonderful Saint Catherine. The Chapel was adorned in yellow and the sermon invited pupils to think about the journey undertaken by Saint Catherine; rising from obscurity to become a powerful ally of the Pope and a faithful disciple of Jesus. As we approach the end of a wonderful and, at times, challenging academic year, it is pertinent to use Catherine of Siena as an example to inspire us. We too can achieve greatness if we follow our passions and live our lives with faith. We too can set the world on fire if we just work hard and believe in ourselves.

| This Wednesday lunchtime Countdown continued with the Lower Fourth taking part. Aidan and Elnathan from Magdalene took on Hamza and Donell from Siena. Whilst both sides gave some great answers, in the end Siena proved too much for Magdalene, winning 34 points to 9. Huge congratulations to Hamza and Donell who performed extremely well, with some excellent answers. Thank you to Mr Wright, Mrs Barber and Mr Lee-Rodriguez for their help in running the event. Countdown will return in two weeks time with Campion taking on Bosco. - Mr T Wilson - Head of Magdalene House. | |
