| Parents' Guide to Live Streaming | |
| | Parents will be aware that for many young people a large part of their online time is taken up by watching videos on streaming sites and apps. These are a great way for pupils to learn about, literally, anything. However, there are risks that parents should be aware of. - Mr T Sanders | |

| | | On this important day, pupils and staff from the College and Sixth Form walked in procession to the English Martyrs Church ready to celebrate our patron Saint. Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr Joe Evans, College priest and concelebrated by Canon Cleary, parish priest and Fr Michael Deas, College alumni. The house captains of Siena, Bosco, Campion, Magdalene led a grand procession as mass began with their house banners and colours followed behind by altar servers Emily, Michael and Rafal. The newly appointed Head Boy John T read the First reading, Ecclesiasticus 39:6–10. Head Girl, Katy C read Psalm 36. Deputy Head Boy and Girl, Kieran O and Martha Rose O led the pupils in the Prayers of the Faithful. This year we were very blessed to be able to bring part of the College orchestra, led by Mr Davies and organ teacher Mrs Reece. Head of Sixth Form, Mr Rose was Cantor for the Kyrie Eleison and Gloria. Kelly Y made her premier on the English Martyrs enormous organ and performed the Post-Communion reflection.
On return to College the pupils were treated to ice cream. - Mrs C Hibbert.

| | Meanwhile, in the College chapel, the whole of the Prep School was in a jubilant mood ready to celebrate the Feast Day of our Patron Saint with a beautiful mass. The mass started perfectly with the joyful singing of ‘Meet me here’. Later in the mass the levels of joy and celebration were raised with the hymn ‘You and me’ and ‘This Little Light of Mine’. The children ended the commemorational mass with ‘Great Big God’, a wonderful and fitting end to a Mass celebrating the Feast Day of St Bede. - Mr J Joyce-O'keeffe | |

| ‘Queen of May’ Assembly | |
| | On Thursday and Friday, Nursery and Reception Classes were excited to perform their ‘Queen of the May’ assembly for the Prep school, family and friends. It was a wonderful celebration for the month of May and has become a very special tradition for the youngest members of our school. The children have been working very hard to learn all their songs, words, poems and actions and performed them with ease. We are bursting with pride at how they were able to speak clearly and with such confidence and expression. It’s hard to believe that some of these children are only three years old! Well done children, we think you are fantastic! - The EYFS Team

| A Beautiful Day to Play Football in London | |
| | | |
| | Cian O, U4WAS, played football in London this weekend for ISFA (Independent Schools Football Association) Under 14s against Wales School Boys. It was a beautiful day and the teams were really evenly matched. England were winning 3-2 but unfortunately conceded an own goal right in the last minute to draw 3-3. National anthems were played before kick-off to give a fantastic experience for the boys. - Mr M Parker |

| Outdoor learning continued with Prep 3 spending an afternoon in Alexandra Park. It was a follow activity as part of their topic ‘The Rainforest’. They were able to identify many deciduous and coniferous trees in our beautiful park during the day. They also played the role of scientific detectives and were able to label the different trees based on the shape of their leaves. They discovered there were a large number of horse chestnut, ash and birch trees in the park. In addition, there were some recently planted oak trees. It was a great opportunity for the children to spend time out of the classroom and they enjoyed the experience very much. - Mr J Joyce-O’Keeffe |

| Not Resting in Idleness | |
| | | |
| | L5COR brought in food for the Hope Foodbank project based locally in Wythenshawe to celebrate St Bede's day. We have been praying regularly for those who are struggling with the cost of living crisis and particularly those who can't afford to feed their families, so we thought we would do something about it, following the example of St Bede and 'not resting in idleness'. - Mrs M Corbett |

| Inter-House Mastermind | |
| | On Wednesday, the Lower Fifth competed in Inter-House Mastermind. It was a fiercely contested affair, in which our four competitors demonstrated their scholarly general knowledge and strong specialist subjects. James represented Siena and scored a respectable 13 points, with a specialist subject of Season 1 of the US Office. Kamwana represented Campion and finished with an impressive 26 points, showing a superb knowledge of the anime series Demon Slayer. Rafal finished a close second for Bosco House, scoring an excellent 31 points with his wonderful knowledge of the Marvel Universe. However, out in front was Patrick, from Magdalene. He ended with an outstanding score of 34, impressing with his knowledge of Season 2 of the US Office and some superb general knowledge.
The event was very well attended, with the Lower Fifth coming out to support their friends and I'd like to thank all of those staff who assisted, in order to once again make the event a success. - M L Rodriguez

| | Congratulations to Prep 4 pupil Victor who qualified for an international contest called "Talantul in Negot" (after the parable from Matthew 25:14-30). Victor and his family attend their local Romanian Evangelical Church which organises an annual contest which encourages children to read the Bible. Victor has been reading and studying the Gospel of Mark, Book of Esher and Letter to Filimon from the Bible since October.
Victor qualified for the International Finals, winning first place in his age category over all Romanian Evangelical Churches in the UK. There were 70 contestants in all age groups and 20 in Victor's group age. We wish Victor the best of luck in the finals - Mr J Joyce-O’Keeffe |

Please contact the relevant department head and send us photos and information about your child's achievements. We'll be proud to share it with the whole Bedian family. #Be part of a Great Tradition #BeBedian bedesnews@sbcm.co.uk
